Meter Point Administration Number
(Also known as: MPAN, S number)

An MPAN (Meter Point Administration Number) is the number that identifies your electricity supply and is unique to your property. Some suppliers prefer to call it the Supply Number or S Number (but don’t confuse it with the customer reference number).

Your MPAN is 21 digits long and will look something like the image below:

It can be found printed on any electricity bill addressed to your property. So if you see one laying around take a look!

Meter Serial Number (Gas and Electric)

Meter serial numbers (also known as an 'MSN’) are unique numbers used to identify your gas or electricity meter.

The serial number is made up of a combination of numbers and letters and you'll be able to find it on the front of your physical gas and electricity meters. Hint: It’s usually engraved into the meter box itself or printed on a sticker attached to the meter box.

'I can’t get to my meter...' 😕
That’s okay. Try finding an energy bill addressed to the property instead. Most suppliers also show the Meter Serial Number (MSN) on the bill under the ‘Meter Readings' section.

Meter Point Reference Number
(Also known as: MPRN, M number)

An MPRN (Meter Point Reference Number) is the number that identifies your gas supply and is unique to your property. Some suppliers refer to it as just the Meter Number or M Number (but don’t confuse it with the customer reference number).

Your MPRN is between 6-10 numbers long and will look something like the image below:
